The short version

Inspyred Habits does not have accounts, and the app does not send your habits, history or settings to us. Everything you enter stays on your device and, if you turn on iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage, which only you can read. The app contains no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking. This website uses Google Analytics to count visits. The support form on this website and the Send Logs button in the app send us only what you choose to send, by email.

1. Who we are

Inspyred Habits (the "app") and inspyredhabitsapp.com (the "website") are made and operated by Victor S. Keenan, an individual developer based in Florida, United States ("we", "us"). For anything in this policy, write to [email protected].

This policy explains what information the app and the website handle, where it goes, and the choices you have. It applies to the app on iPhone, iPhone Duo, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, and to the website.

2. The app: what it stores and where

The app stores the habits you create, your check-ins, skips, pauses and archives, your reminder settings, and your preferences (accent color, display mode, week start, reminder times). All of it lives in a database on your device.

iCloud sync. If you are signed in to iCloud on your device, the app mirrors that database into your private iCloud database using Apple's CloudKit, so your other devices stay current. That storage belongs to your Apple account. We cannot read it, we have no server of our own, and Apple's handling of it is governed by Apple's privacy policy and the iCloud terms. If you sign out of iCloud or turn off iCloud Drive for Inspyred Habits, the app keeps working with the local copy only.

Widgets. Widgets read the same database on your device so they can show your ring and today's habits. Nothing leaves the device for this.

Reminders. Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. They are not sent through any server. The app asks for notification permission the first time you turn a reminder on, and you can withdraw it in Settings at any time.

Backups. Settings › Backup lets you export your data as a file and import it again. Where you save or send that file, and who can open it, is up to you.

Sending logs for support. Settings includes a Send Logs button for when something goes wrong. The log contains technical details that help us reproduce a problem: your device model, iOS version and app version, your settings, and a record of what the app did, such as sync events, reminder scheduling and error messages, with timestamps. It does not include your habits or check-ins unless a habit name appears in an error message. Depending on the version of the app, tapping the button either opens an email to [email protected] with the log attached, which you review and send yourself, or sends the log directly to us over an encrypted connection after you confirm. Either way, nothing leaves your device until you choose to send it, the app shows you what will be sent, and you can cancel. We use the log only to diagnose the problem you report, and we delete it once the matter is closed, normally within twelve months.

What the app does not do. It has no sign-up or login. It does not collect analytics, crash reports or usage statistics on its own; the only time anything leaves the app for us is when you tap Send Logs and confirm. It contains no advertising, no third-party software development kits, and no tracking of any kind. We do not know who you are, what habits you track, or whether you keep your streak.

3. Purchases

The subscription and free trial are sold through the Apple App Store. Apple processes the payment and holds your payment details; we never receive them. The app checks your subscription status with Apple on your device so it can unlock features. If you need a refund or a billing record, those come from Apple, through your Apple account or reportaproblem.apple.com.

4. The website: what it collects

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the website and which pages they read. Google sets cookies in your browser and collects information such as the pages you view, how long you stay, the type of device and browser you use, your approximate location derived from your network, and a random identifier that lets Google recognize a returning browser. We have turned on Google's data-minimization settings and do not add any personal details to this data, but Google processes it under its own privacy policy, and some of it is transferred to and stored on Google's servers in the United States and elsewhere. If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, analytics cookies are set only after you accept them in the notice shown on your first visit. Anywhere else, you can block them with your browser settings or the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Support form. When you send a question from the Support page, the website emails it to us and does not keep a copy. We receive the name, email address, device, topic and message you enter, plus anything else you add, such as the device model and iOS version we ask for so we can reproduce a problem. We use it only to answer you and to fix problems you report, and we delete it once the matter is closed, normally within twelve months.

Theme preference. If you switch the website between dark and light mode, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the page remembers it. It is not a tracking cookie and is never sent to us.

Server logs. Like any website, our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser type) for security and to keep the site running. These are kept for a short period and are not combined with anything else.

5. How we use information, and why we are allowed to

We use support messages and diagnostic logs to reply to you and improve the app (our legitimate interest in running a support service, and, where you are a subscriber, our contract with you). We use analytics to see how the website is used and to improve it (your consent where the law requires it, otherwise our legitimate interest in understanding our audience). We use server logs to keep the website secure (our legitimate interest). We do not use any of this information for advertising, and we do not sell it, rent it, or share it for anyone else's marketing.

6. Who else sees it

Apple, for iCloud storage of your app data (in your own account) and for App Store purchases. Google, for website analytics as described above. Our website hosting, email and file-transfer providers, which process support messages, diagnostic logs and server logs on our behalf under their own security commitments. We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect someone's safety. There is no one else.

7. How long we keep it

App data is kept for as long as you keep it: delete a habit in the app and it is gone from your device and, if syncing, from your iCloud. Deleting the app removes the local database; to remove the iCloud copy as well, delete the app's data under Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage. Support emails and diagnostic logs are kept until your question is resolved and then deleted, normally within twelve months. Google retains analytics data for the period set in our Google Analytics account, currently fourteen months. Server logs are kept for no more than ninety days.

8. Your rights and choices

Because your app data never reaches us, the most direct way to see, export, correct or delete it is inside the app: every habit is editable, Settings › Backup exports everything, and deleting habits or the app removes it. For anything we do hold (support messages, diagnostic logs you have sent, and whatever Google Analytics has recorded about your browser), you can ask us to tell you what it is, correct it, delete it, give you a copy, or stop using it, by emailing [email protected]. We will answer within thirty days and will not treat you differently for asking.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, these are your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection under the GDPR and equivalent laws, plus the right to withdraw consent to analytics cookies at any time and to complain to your local data protection authority. If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the rights to know, delete and correct, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; we do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Residents of other U.S. states with privacy laws have similar rights and can exercise them the same way.

To stop analytics cookies, decline them in the cookie notice, clear them in your browser, or install Google's opt-out add-on. To stop reminders, turn them off in the app or in your device's notification settings.

9. Children

The app and the website are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because the app collects nothing, a child using it with a parent's permission does not send us anything either. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the support form, email us and we will delete it.

10. Security

On your device, your data is protected by the device's own encryption and passcode. In iCloud it is protected by Apple's encryption and your Apple account security, including Advanced Data Protection if you turn that on. The website is served over HTTPS, and a diagnostic log sent directly from the app travels over an encrypted connection. Support messages, and logs you send as an email attachment, travel by email, which is as secure as email is; please do not include passwords or payment details in a message.

11. International visitors

We are based in the United States. Support messages and website logs are processed here, and Google processes analytics data in the United States and other countries where it operates. Where the law requires safeguards for such transfers, we rely on the standard contractual terms offered by our providers.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app or website handles information, we will update this page and the effective date at the top. For a change that matters, such as the app starting to collect something it does not collect today, we will also say so in the app's release notes before it takes effect.
